dear friend, first you try to understand what is Arya Samaj ?

The Arya Samaj was founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswathi. Arya Samaj weddings are conducted as per the Arya Marriage Validation act X1X of 1937, and are performed as per Vedic rites. As a basic principle, the Arya Samaj conducts weddings only for Hindus. But, if a non-Hindu couple would like to have an Arya Samaj wedding, the Samaj allows them to get converted through a process called 'Shuddhi'.

The Arya Samaj does not believe in idol worship and the wedding ceremony is performed with the fire and other elements as the witnesses. As per the Hindu religion, the fire is considered the sustainer of life. The specialty of an Arya Samaj wedding is that the mantras are also translated into a language that the couple can understand. This adds to the charm of an Arya Samaj wedding.

The wedding ceremony through Arya Samaj

Typically, an Arya Samaj wedding lasts for an hour and a half. If the couple so desire they can add the special flavor of their community wedding as well.

The main rites of the wedding are as below:
*Madhuparka: After the bride and the groom arrive at the venue of the wedding the groom partakes of 'Madhuparka', a mixture of honey, curds and cream. The bride gives the groom water three times, which he sprinkles on his feet, over his body and drinks it the third time. Similarly, the groom partakes of the 'Madhuparka' three times after sprinkling it in all directions. The Madhuparka symbolises the commencement of their journey into a happy married life.
*Kanyadaan: The parents of the bride offer their daughter's hand in marriage to the groom. The groom graciously accepts it. Kanyadaan is considered to be the holiest of all 'daans' a Hindu couple can make in their lifetime. It also differs from other 'daans' in that the couple making the daan still have some rights over their daughter. Traditionally, once an object has been donated or given away, the giver no longer has any claims to it.
*Havanv: The wedding is solemnised in front of the 'holy fire' or 'Agni'. The purohit lights the 'Agni' and chants mantras invoking the blessings of the Gods for a happy 'Grihasth Jivan' or married life.
*Pani Grahan Sanskar: The groom takes the bride's hands in his and chants mantras promising to look after all her needs and to keep her happy throughout her life. Invoking the Gods, the bride and groom take one 'parikrama' around the fire.
*Shilarohan: The bride's mother places the bride's right foot on a stone, while the groom chants specified mantras. This symbolizes that just as a rock is solid, the relationship between the bride and groom would also be solid and permanent. With this act, the couple prays that they be given all strength by the Almighty to face life's challenges together.
*Lajahom: Lajahom is the offering of puffed rice into the sacred fire. Puffed rice symbolizes prosperity. The bride places her hands into the groom's hands and the brother of the bride puts puffed rice into them, which is then offered to the 'Agni'.
*Parikrama: The couple goes around the sacred fire four times. The first three times the bride leads the groom, and she is considered as Goddess Lakshmi. After the fourth circumvention she becomes the 'Ardhangani' or 'Half Body' of the groom more commonly called - his wife. After this, the bride's sari pallav is tied to the groom's 'angavastra' with three knots by the groom's sister.
*Saptapadi: The 'Saptapadi' are the seven steps taken by the couple. After the Saptapadi, the bride and groom take one parikrama around the fire walking alongside each other.
*Invoking blessings: Elders, amidst chanting of mantras, sprinkle water on the couple and the blessings of the Gods are sought.
*Hriday Sparshmantra: The bride and the groom place one hand on each other's heart and recite mantras. The couple takes vows to be loyal to each other.
*Sindoor: The groom applies 'sindoor' on the forehead of the bride and ties the mangalsutra. They feed each other sweets and promise to look after each other.
*Dhruvnakshatra: The Dhruvnakshatra or Polestar is always firm in its place. The couple looks towards the star and take a vow to be permanently with each other.
*Arundhati Nakshatra: The couple also invoke the blessings of Arundhati and Vashisht Nakshatras, the two stars that appear as one always.
*Aashirwaad: The 'Aashirwaad' or blessings of all elders are sought by the newly wedded couple.

Arya Samaj marriage is conducted by the Arya Samaj, founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswathi in any of its temple. Simplicity is the main essence of Arya Samaj wedding.Arya Samaj marriage is meant only for Hindus, any non-Hindu can also be allowed to undergo the marriage rituals if he undergoes the process of conversion through Shuddhi i.e. Purification. Arya Samaj marriage is performed with the fire and other elements as the witnesses since they don't believe in idol worshipping. The mantras which are chanted, are translated into a language that the couple can understand so that the couple can relate themselves to the meaning and significance of the wedding mantras in an Arya Samaj marriage.Arya Samaj has also made provisions to award marriage certificates to the married couples which tie knot under their rituals. Arya Samaj marriages are covered with all Vedic rituals, chants and blessings of God without too much flashiness.

Caste system had made the roots of our nation shallow. Arya Samaj Mandir has always opposed the caste system prevailed in the society.Arya Samaj encourages inter-caste marriages in order to alleviate this deep rooted social evil in the society. The certificate of marriage given by Arya Samaj Mandir is absolutely legally valid on the basis of which you are fully declared as Husband and wife. After securing Marriage Certificate, no one can harm you and even challenge your marriage in the court of law. Many people kill the baby girls in the womb because of the fear of their marriage expenses in the future. This has resulted in male-female ratio misbalance. There is also a legislation in place equivalent to Court Marriage Act 1954 that justifies the marriages solemnized in Arya Samaj Mandir. As marriage in Arya Samaj Mandir is solemnized under Arya Samaj Validation Act 1937 (Section 19) and Hindu Marriage Act 1955, it is legally valid and universally recognised.Marriages in Arya Samaj Mandir are performed keeping in mind the all current laws and regulations. We discourage child marriage and we follow strict the rules of age limitations i.e. 21 years for males and 18 years for females. This way we save ourselves from this social vice of child marriage. The family of bridegroom has to spend their whole life in prison. Thus both of the families live their lives in panic and the marriages which should be for the happy families turn to the reasons of sorrow. All the marriages which are conducted at Arya Samaj Mandir are totally prohibited from dowry systems because Arya Samaj is strictly against the dowry system.Marriages that are performed at Arya Samaj Mandir, have limited invitees. Thus We save myselves from many unnecessary hassles like Tents, Band, Halwai, D.J. system, distribution of invitation cards, transportation for people, marketing etc.It also keeps you away from all loiter procedures and flamboyance arrangements like card distribution, a long and awaited bookings for marriage hall or farmhouse, a long listed menu, accessories for decoration, accommodation of guests and marketing and extravagances.

Without true love we cannot become true human beings and if we are not true human beings, our nation will never make progress.Caste system had made the roots of our nation shallow. According to our law child marriage is completely prohibited, which attracts punishment if the law is violated. We save my selves from this social evil like child marriage.

As Arya Samaj is against dowry, marriage is solemnized without any dowry and it liberates lower and middle class people from the burden of dowry. One gets a legal marriage certificate that certify a couple legal husband and wife. Further, marriages conducted in arya samaj mandir are free from noise and too much rush, and is solemnized in peace while incorporating different Vedic rituals and chants.

news about arya samaj marriage in Delhi :

The Delhi High Court has restrained some Arya Samaj temples in Yamuna Bazar area here from holding any marriage after finding them indulging in irregularities.

Justice Hima Kohli restrained Sevak Mandal Arya Samaj, Arya Samaj Vedic Prachar Samiti, Arya Samaj Vedic Marriage Mandal, Arya Samaj Mandir Seva Samiti and Arya Samaj Vivah Mandir Trust from holding any marriage there.

The court passed the order after Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Yamuna Bazar informed the court that it is the only registered Arya Samaj temple for the purpose of marriage of couples and it has nothing to with other Arya Samaj temples.

Earlier, expressing concern over the growing number of minors eloping with lovers to get married in temples, the court had ordered a comprehensive police probe against office bearers of the temples.

The court also directed police to go through the bank accounts and other records maintained by temple authorities over the past few years.

In its report, police said these temples were not legally registered and were involved in various irregularities including not following procedure of law, one of the counsel in the case said.

The report also said the temples don't maintain proper accounts.

The court passed the order after a case pertaining to a 12-year-old Muslim girl, who had eloped from her house to get married, was brought to its notice.

The temple authorities had allegedly arranged for the girl to be converted to Hinduism, so she could marry her boyfriend.

Court verdict about arya samaj marriage :

KOCHI, INDIA, March 9, 2013 (India Times): The Kerala high court has ruled that the Arya Samaj cannot conduct marriages between people if they are not followers of the samaj, and it will not be legally valid if it takes place. Arya Samaj mandirs are found in all Indian cities and towns and solemnize love, arranged, inter-religion and inter-caste marriages. The ruling was given by a division bench of justices Pius C. Kuriakose and P. D. Rajan while considering the case of a Muslim woman and a Hindu man who married at an Arya Samaj mandir in Kozhikode on December 28 last year.

The court was considering a habeas corpus petition filed by father of the girl Raihana (name changed), alleging that his daughter was being illegally detained. Disagreeing to accept their marriage as valid, the court said, "We have carefully examined the certificate of marriage as well as pramanapathram. Neither claimed before us that they are Arya samajists. The man told us that he continues to be a Hindu while Raihana told us that she believes in both religions. Having regard to the Arya Marriage Validation Act, 1937, it is very clear to our mind that it is not a valid marriage." The couple were told to get married according to the Special Marriage Act. It is the statute for solemnization of marriage between people of different religions.

High court order against Arya Samaj marriages :

Quick Arya Samaj marriages which come in handy for lovers in a hurry will have to undergo changes following a Rajasthan High Court directive.

A division bench of the court has placed a ban on such marriage unless parents of both the bride and bridegroom are informed through the police.

A bench comprising justices Dalip Singh and Sajjan Singh Kothari also ruled that no love marriage through Arya Samaj will be allowed to be solemnised unless it has been approved and recommended by two distinguished person of both the sides.

It has been made compulsory that both the boy and girl produce three prominent persons as witness of the marriage from either side at Arya Samaj if their parents object to the marriage.

The court directed that in case Arya Samaj authorities decide to go ahead with the ceremony despite objections of the parents, they will have to separately record the reasons for entering into such a marriage.

Expressing displeasure over the manner in which such marriages are being conducted by the Arya Samaj in Rajasthan, the court said, “Local units have lost sight of the pious purpose of the Arya Samaj mission. These marriages land in courts, resulting in irreversible breakdowns”.

In its order, the court directed that at least six days time must be given to the parents of both side to take a conscious decision on such a love marriage.

“It takes them one hour to solemnize a marriage between an 18-year-old girl and a 38 or 40-year-old man which leaves scars forever in the life of parents. We cannot allow society to suffer due to the outcome of such marriages,” observed Justice Kothari.

The bench passed this order on a Habeas Corpus petition filed by 34-year-old Buddha Ram Meena who entered into such a marriage with 18-year-old Maina Bhatt. The parents of girl took her away when they found out.
